IF COMING FROM THE NORTH WEST (e.g. via Fort Smith, AR):

Take  I-40 East to the city of Conway, get off I-40 at exit 125 – Hwy 65 North.

IF COMING FROM THE SOUTH WEST (e.g. via Dallas, TX and Texarkana)

Take I-30 West to Little Rock and before Little Rock exit onto I-430 North.

Travel on I-430 North to I-40 West toward Fort Smith.   Get off I-40 at the city

of Conway, exit 125 –  Hwy 65 North.

Stay on Hwy 65 North from Conway until you get through Clinton, about 35 miles. (Watch for speed zones along the way. There is zero tolerance in Greenbriar, Damascus, Bee Branch and Clinton. The speed limit is 45 mph.) After passing the Wal-Mart in Clinton continue for another 2.75 miles.  Immediately after crossing a bridge over Archey Fork Creek, you will see signs for Hwy 16 East to Fairfield Bay and Hwy 9 North to Shirley.  Turn right after the bridge.  [It is about a 45 minute drive to TBTR from this point.]

The road to Shirley is very curvy and steep in places, especially when going through the town of Shirley.  Travel the posted speed limits for safety on the curves.

Before passing through Shirley, and just before crossing a bridge over the South Fork of the Little Red River, Hwy 16 goes off to the right toward Fairfield Bay. Hwy 9 continues straight on to Shirley and Rushing.  Continue on Hwy 9 to Rushing where there is a cemetery and a church, and that is about it.  Shortly after passing through Rushing you will see a sign for Hwy 9 North to the right, and Hwy 263 straight ahead.  Turn right.

After about 7.3 miles on Hwy 9, from the intersection outside of Rushing, you will come to Sunny Fox Rd.  It is on the left side and it is a dirt/gravel road. There is a street sign indicating Sunny Fox Rd., and a Green and White lettered sign with an arrow indicating BROOM TREE.

Sunny Fox Rd. is at the crest of a hill so watch for oncoming cars before turning left. It can be difficult to see the Sunny Fox Road sign since you are looking at it edge-on. There is a road off to the right about ¼ mile before you get to Sunny Fox Road called Sunnyland Road.  Don’t take it.  There is also a sign indicating the Sunnyland Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) to the right.  When you see that road sign, and the SVFD sign, begin to slow down.

There are two entrances for Sunny Fox Road, the second is about 100 feet further down the road (from the one you are using when coming from Shirley). BOTH ENTRANCES ARE ON A BLIND CURVE SO WATCH FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC EITHER WAY.

IF COMING FROM THE EAST (e.g. MEMPHIS, TN):

Take I-40 west out of Memphis to Little Rock. In Little Rock continue on I-40 to Conway, Exit 125.  Then follow the directions from Conway to Clinton as given above.

An alternate route from Memphis, TN:

Take Hwy 64 west from West Memphis (Exiting from I-55 N) toward Wynne and Bald Knob, Arkansas. At Bald Knob take 167 North toward Batesville. Just after passing the small Airport on the left, south of Batesville, at the traffic light you will junction with Hwy 25 and Hwy 14. Turn Left. Follow Hwy 14 all the way to Mountain View. (Hwy 25 continues straight at Locus Grove, and Hwy 14 veers off to the right.) This route is a bit shorter in miles, longer time wise and very scenic!  Once you're in Mountain View, follow the directions below.

IF YOU ARE COMING FROM THE NORTH: (e.g. Branson, MO or St. Louis, MO)

Find your way to Mountain View, Arkansas. Possibly down Hwy 65 through Harrison, exiting at Leslie onto Hwy 66 East to Mountain View. OR perhaps down Hwy 5 through Mountain Home directly to Mountain View. OR through Batesville taking Hwy 14 into Mountain View.

Once you're in Mountain View, take State Hwy 9 South (Hwy 9 South is called Peabody Street in Mountain View, and it is just off the Town Square). Travel about 8.7 miles south from the town square and the center of town on Hwy 9. You will come to County Road 16 on the right, also called Sunny Fox Road. (A small blue sign with yellow lettering indicates County Road 16. A green street sign indicates Sunny Fox Rd. There is also a small Green Sign with white letters indicating BROOM TREE, and an arrow.). Turn right onto the dirt/gravel road.

FOR ALL DIRECTIONS - FINAL LEG OF THE TRIP:

Take the county road (Sunny Fox Rd.) for 2.6 miles. This road is composed of dirt and gravel, and it can be rough in places.  We suggest you travel at about 20-25mph.  There are a few places where the road forks – ALWAYS go left when there is a choice.  Shortly after getting on Sunny Fox Rd., there is a road to the left.  This is Julie Rae Lane and NOT a fork in the road.  At about 1.6 miles Shady Oaks Rd. veers off to the right.  Stay left.  At 2.6 miles you will see two green mail boxes (4001/Ray, 3999/May), and a sign for The Broom Tree Refuge.  Sunny Fox Rd. continues on from that point making a sharp right turn.  Turn left onto the dirt road after the mail boxes and follow it to our property (about .4 mile).  You are here!
